How to use your products.
Below you can read how you should take care and use each of our fabulous products. Safety is always a priority when dealing with naked flames and melting wax.
Candles
Candles are a great way to add design and ambience to a room, but naked flames and hot wax can be hazardous, especially around children and pets.
Burn Time:
Q: How long should I burn my candle for?
A: We recommend burning your candle for no longer than four hours at a time. Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts and flammable materials.
First Burn:
Q: What should I do when I light my candle for the first time?
A: When lighting your candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface. This helps prevent tunnelling and encourages an even burn throughout the life of your candle.
Location:
Q: Where should I place my candle when I'm using it?
A: Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, children and pets, and anywhere it could be knocked over.
Candle Care
Q: How do I look after my candle?

A: Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm and remove any loose wick debris from the wax. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

When you're ready to extinguish your candle, carefully place the lid back onto the jar to extinguish the flame, taking care to avoid burns. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.

Discontinue use when the remaining wax reaches the minimum level specified for your candle. Never allow the candle to burn all the way to the bottom of the jar.
Wax Burner & Melts
Wax melts are a great way to change the fragrance of your room more often. Designed in a snap-bar format, you can break off 1–2 squares and place them in your wax melt burner.
Time:
Q: How long will my wax melt snap bar last?

A: On average, two squares should last for approximately 2–3 days. This can vary depending on how long the wax is warmed for. If using a tealight burner, never burn the tealight for more than four hours at a time.
New wax:
Q: What should I do when the fragrance has faded?
A: Once the fragrance has faded, allow the wax to cool and harden before removing it from the burner dish. If the wax is difficult to remove, gently warm the underside of the dish to loosen it, making it easier to lift out. Replace it with two fresh squares before lighting the tealight.

Q: Where should I place my wax burner when I'm using it?
A: Place your wax burner on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from children and pets and anywhere it could be knocked over. Keep it away from draughts and flammable materials.
Aftercare:
Q: How do I look after my wax burner?

A: Never leave a lit tealight or a heated wax burner unattended. Allow the burner and melted wax to cool completely before touching, moving or cleaning the burner.
Reed Diffusers
Our reed diffusers are an easy way to enjoy your favourite fragrance without the need for a flame.
Time:
Q: How long will my reed diffuser last for?
A: Our reed diffusers typically last around three to six months, depending on the environment and usage. To help maintain the fragrance, we recommend turning the reeds every other week.
Location:
Q: Where should I place my reed diffuser when I'm using it?

A: Place your reed diffuser on a flat, stable surface where it cannot easily be knocked over by children or pets. Keep the diffuser away from naked flames and sources of heat.
Aftercare:
Q: How do I look after my reed diffuser?

A: Turn the reeds every other week to help release the fragrance. Wipe up any spillages immediately, as the fragrance oil may damage or stain certain surfaces. Once the diffuser liquid has completely evaporated, you can get in touch to arrange a refill.
Car Diffusers
Our car diffusers are an easy way to enjoy your favourite fragrance while on the road, without the need for a flame.
Time:
Q: How long will my Car diffuser last for?
A: Our car diffusers typically last between four and six weeks, depending on the method used and the environment. With the reed method, the fragrance will gradually soak into the wooden lid, usually within the first week, and will continue to fragrance your car.
Location:
Q: Where should I place my car diffuser when I'm using it?
A: Your car diffuser can either be hung from the rear-view mirror using the supplied string or attached to an air vent using the supplied vent clip.
Do not overfill your diffuser, as this can cause leaking. The bottle, wooden lid and fragrance liquid must not come into contact with the rear-view mirror or any other surface inside your car or home. Ensure the diffuser does not obstruct your view while driving.
Aftercare:
Q: How do I look after my car diffuser?
A: With the reed method, the fragrance gradually soaks into the wooden lid and continues to release fragrance without the need for regular adjustment.

With the hanging method, carefully turn the diffuser upside down for a few seconds to allow the fragrance to soak into the string. Always do this while the vehicle is stationary and take care to avoid spills.
Once the fragrance has faded, you can purchase a refill to replenish your diffuser. Follow the filling and use instructions below each time you refill it.
How to use my car diffuser
To get the best out of your Candles of Sherford car diffuser and use it safely, please follow these instructions carefully.
Always prepare and refill your car diffuser outside the vehicle, on a clean, flat and wipe-clean surface. Wipe up any spillages immediately.

Unscrew the wooden lid from your diffuser bottle and remove the lid from the refill bottle.

Carefully squeeze the fragrance liquid from the refill bottle into your diffuser bottle. We recommend filling the bottle halfway for the vent-clip method and three-quarters full for the hanging method. Do not overfill.

Screw the wooden lid securely onto the diffuser bottle, ensuring it is fitted correctly and is not loose. If your lid is no longer fitting securely a new bottle will need to be purchased, do not continue to reuse the old bottle.

Hold the bottle upside down for three seconds, then return it upright. Repeat as necessary until the wooden lid begins to darken. Do not oversoak the wooden lid.

Hang your diffuser inside your vehicle using the string, ensuring that only the string comes into contact with the car's interior. Alternatively, attach the diffuser to an air vent using the supplied vent clip. Ensure the bottle and wooden lid do not touch any surfaces.

For the hanging method, repeat step 5 every five to seven days, as required, to refresh the fragrance. Always do this outside the vehicle or over a suitable wipe-clean surface while the vehicle is stationary.

Our car diffusers typically last four to six weeks. After six weeks of use, remove your diffuser from your vehicle and replace it if necessary. Do not continue using a damaged or leaking diffuser.
Important Safety Information

Do not oversoak the wooden lid, as excessive saturation can cause leakage or stop the lid from screwing back securely.

Clean up any spillages immediately to help prevent staining or damage.

Do not allow the fragrance liquid, bottle or wooden lid to come into contact with car or household surfaces.

Ensure the diffuser does not obstruct the driver's view.
